Temperature guide
86 degrees? Do not panic, it is probably Fahrenheit
You see that it is 86 degrees outside and, for a second, think the planet is ending. Then you notice the small °F: it is 30 °C. Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin can show very different numbers for exactly the same temperature. Here you can move between scales without doing the math by hand.
Three scales for saying how hot or cold something is
Celsius is the everyday scale in most countries. As an easy reference, water freezes near 0 °C and boils near 100 °C at sea level.
Fahrenheit is used mostly in the United States: those same points are 32 °F and 212 °F. Kelvin is common in science and has one important difference: it starts at absolute zero. And no, we do not write “degrees Kelvin.” Its symbol is simply K.
What about decimal places?
We show up to one decimal place so a simple conversion does not turn into a parade of numbers. The calculation starts with the value you entered and rounds each equivalent only for display.
There is one limit the calculator cannot negotiate: absolute zero. It equals exactly 0 K, −273.15 °C and −459.67 °F. Values below that are rejected because they would represent a temperature below the physical limit of the scale.
Common conversions: Celsius to Fahrenheit
Some equivalents appear again and again: 0 °C is 32 °F, 20 °C is 68 °F, 37 °C is 98.6 °F, and 350 °F is about 176.7 °C.

Temperature questions
Can I convert negative temperatures?
Of course. −10 °C or −10 °F are perfectly valid temperatures. The limit is much lower: no temperature can be below absolute zero, which equals 0 K.
Why does Kelvin not use the degree symbol?
Kelvin is a unit, not a scale expressed in degrees. That is why we write 273.15 K, while Celsius and Fahrenheit use 0 °C and 32 °F.
Does the decimal comma work?
Yes. You can enter 36.5 or 36,5 and we understand exactly the same value. You do not have to change keyboards to convert a temperature.
What is 350 °F in Celsius?
350 °F is approximately 176.7 °C. Enter 350 in the Fahrenheit row to also see Kelvin.
What is 37 °C in Fahrenheit?
37 °C is 98.6 °F. It is one of the most common conversions when talking about body temperature.
